RE: internet service

I have not used it yet, but I have read on this site that you can tether your phone to a laptop and get similar service to an air card, without the cost of the card and the 2year contract they charge at $60 per month. I like Verizon best, its what I have always used though.

RE: RV Hydro Flush

How do you feel about the Camco Dual Flush Pro? is this going to achieve the same results as the Flush King?

RE: Dealer Advice about Conveter/Charger

We have not been plugged in, and don't plan on it on our upcoming vacation, at least not more than once every 2 weeks, if that.

175w Xantrex Inverter

I have something in my coach, it s a 12v adapter in the master, with the TV Cable outlet above. I just put in a 19" LCD (55w) and a DVD (9w), and have a 175watt Xantrex inverter that I plug right in to the outlet...Will this Fry the wiring???? The Dealer/and CW is telling me to put in a hardwired 1000w inverter? So far I don't get any "noise" from the inverter. There is a direct wire attached to the battery with its on 15amp fuse? I bought the coach used so I am not sure what it connects from, though it does say mstr on the wiring. But the problem is there are 2 12v outlets in the master? What controls what??? Will I fry this out w/ the TV DVD going? Is the dealer way to up sell me / CW too?

RE: Dealer Advice about Conveter/Charger

That's what I figured, the dealer doesn't want to do it, for whatever reason. I have read nothing but GREAT things about upgrading my unit. The idea is that we don't use hookups often. I want to be able to charge up the batteries in the mornings and be ok all day without using the gen. mostly. Computer in the morning, hike, bike, hang and relax all day, and movie at night. Thanks, I will be having it done ASAP. I just wish I could figure out how to do it myself....OH WELL!!! :)))

RE: Dealer Advice about Conveter/Charger

I am not exactly sure what is being replaced other than it's a 45amp converter/charger. That was stock with the coach when it was built.

Dealer Advice about Conveter/Charger

I was at the dealer I bought my used 2000 Class C from today and wanted them to install my new PD9260 in my coach.(I would have though it is below the shower and has about 6" of space to work in) Anyway, the installer says "why are you changing out your converter/charger? You have a 45amp one already, Winnebago make great converter/chargers already" The unit is stock, though the tech and installer are telling me that I don't need a new one unless the one I have is broken. I am the idiot for buying a $189 upgrade (based on reading numerous info about upgrading converter/charger, I figured it was essential for charging your batteries in the morning in a short amt of time, we like to dry camp usually)??? Or is the dealer for recommending NOT upgrading?

RE: CELL PHONE INTERNET ACCESS

Mr. Wizard, I have the $45BES plan with my blackberry, It is the unlimited plan (when they offered it back in Aug. 07) though the rep has said it is still capped at 5gigs monthly. I don't use that now, though with my direct access platform I may be close when on the road....anyway Is the speed and transfer rate the same as a air card, using the blackberry thethered? I talked to a rep about a month ago and they said to activate the thethered feature it was an additional $60 monthly on top of what I currently pay for data (I think thats what he said.)???? I will have to call later and confirm Oregon, I looked at the card because it was "free" with a 2 yr contract. Though I don't need it for 2 yrs...and 120 for a year is still more time than I need, so I am torn. though I am thinking now it may be better to just tether it, and it will be less overall. Verizon is my favorite so I will stick with them. Thanks again for all your reponses...I will be looking for more info soon.

RE: CELL PHONE INTERNET ACCESS

Oregon, Thanks, for the info, I have already though about just dealing with it and taking a $60 monthly hit, via an air card. I think that will be the best thing to do. I have Verizon currently, I have been told it is one of the better services, (though I am thniking everyone may disagree and like theirs the best....) I am planning on going from S. Cal to Oregon to Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Utah, Az. (Mostly National Parks) What would be best? I like Verizon as it is.

RE: CELL PHONE INTERNET ACCESS

I have been reading and there is a lot of info...though I have not seen how to use a blackberry on Verizon's network without having to tether it and pay an additional $60 per month. Actually I don't care if I have to tether it but I just don't want to pay MORE $$$ for internet when the blackberry already has it. The blackberry already comes with a full unlimited data plan but when I called to find out how to make it work with my laptop, the CS rep. eluded to the fact there are ways to make it work without paying an additional amount monthly. I really need the internet on the road via laptop, I trade stocks and options daily, so it would really be a HUGE HELP, and let me extend our trips... We are planing on a 2-3month trip this summer. I have the blackberry 8830 world phone, anyone know what I need to do?

Installing a PD9260 and Solar Settings

Hi there, I am going to be installing a PD9260 Charger/Converter in my coach. I bought it used and it has already installed a 92 watt solar system. (2 46 watt panels and a Mark 20 charger controller) Will I need to adjust any settings on the solar charger? Or is it as simple as I have been told. (3 Wires, and a plug). The hard part I am having is my current charger is under the shower and it kinda hard to get to. Any ideas about my solar settings? Thanks

RE: Converter Charger Upgrade

I can do simple electrical...though My charger is located under the shower, which is next to the fuse panel,(most photos I have seen show it directly below the fuse panel...so its hard to reach. I would hate to screw anything up and short something out. How would you recommend I install it myself?

RE: Inverter Hardwire or 12v clamp on

I think I will just be using the micro dc inverter...it seems much less expensive and overall better. For the Converter Charger, what do you recomend? Been looking at either a PD 9260 or the Xantrex model for similar watts. Now would I need to just replace the converter charger or would I need to do additional wiring to the actual fuse panel?

Inverter Hardwire or 12v clamp on

Was wondering if I should Hardwire an inverter in my coach? I have 2 6v U2200, 92 watts of solar(20amp Mark Charger). Stock converter charger, its 45amps, Parallax. (The tech said I don't need to upgrade the Charger/Converter???) Though I have read on here that I should!! I want to be able to run my LCD TV in the back, DVD player and charge the laptop. The front tv is a old CRT and DVD. The Antennae is also wired to the fron area Would it be better to just get a DC plug in 175 watt inverter for the back? I was at Camping World today and one of the techs suggested a Xantrex Pro 1800? Install is pretty expensive (I have no electrically know-how) I can get a Remanuf. unit for $210. I don't use the micro much, and coffee in the morning is done with the Gen. Confused. Thanks

RE: Converter Charger Upgrade

Thanks for the info, I am wondering how difficult it would be to put in myself...I have NO experience wiring anything. Also I am thinking about adding two more batteries for a total of 4 6v U220. What would you recomend? I think the current converter is a Parralax?

3 Month Trip Planning...Batteries/Inverter/Charger ETC.

Hi there, I am new to RVing so I have gotten some pretty good advice on theses forums so far. THANKS TO EVERYONE. Bought a used 2000 C Class (first time RVer) This is my latest question.... We are going on a 3-4 month trip to have some fun. We are staying in the Western US. Mostly National parks...Yellowstone, G Teton, Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, and a few stops on the Coast of Calif. and Oregon. Here is where we are at so far... 30Ft. Class C 2000 Itasca Sundancer (LOVE IT) 50k miles NO Tow vehicle 2- 46 Watt Solar Panels 20 AMP Mark solar Charger 2- 6volt batteries U2200 4000 Watt Onan Gen 1 EU2000i Honda Gen (SO QUIET) 19'' LCD TV in back CRT TV in front DVD player original TV antenna 2- Fantastic Fans 12v air compressor (250 psi) 2 Mtn Bikes 4 Surfboards 800 watt (CLAMP ON INVERTER)Though I have not used it yet??? Worried about leaving it on and draining the batteries all night. So I like to plan (drive my wife nuts about planning) To my knowledge everything else is original. I am thinking about increasing to 4 6v U2200 batteries the current ones are pretty old? I have also read that updating my converter is a good idea? Getting a 3 Stage Charger/Converter (Type/model/install? We do like to watch TV/Movies at night Is the 4 batteries overkill??? Inline inverter? If so how big watts? Or just stick to my clamp on 800watt and use extension cords (1front/1Back) We plan on dry camping mostly, I want to make sure I have enough power at night and we can mainly survive on 12v. (minus coffee in morning/popcorn night) Plus I think about breaking down, I have read so much about tires and pressure, weight distribution. What can I do to alleviate my worrying about tires and weight? Have AAA RV for Roadside, but thinking about Good Sam ERS? Also Towing a vehicle, with $4+ gas I want to tow but have no idea about breaking kits, Or how to set it up. I can borrow a '96 RAV 4 manual trans? Or should we just bike it and drive the RIG? Its a lot of question...sorry but what are your thoughts... Thanks so much!!!! 30 Day countdown till we go is on....July 1 YEAH!!
